A substitution for eggs in baking
One Flax egg:
- 1 TBSP ground flax seed
- 3 TBSP water
Mix in a small bowl and let sit for 5 minutes. This allows the flax seed to absorb the water and become an egg like texture. Then add to the recipe as directed for eggs.
This only works for baking. I have only used it to replace recipes that call for whole eggs, in things like cookies or brownies or cakes.
It is not only a vegan friendly option, but also gives your treat a healthy boost of fiber, protein, and other vitamins and minerals! Not to mention, makes the batter safe to eat before cooking ;] Enjoy your cookie dough.
